This prestigious list recognizes young leaders and innovators in healthcare, highlighting Shirley Wang's research using machine learning to predict risk for suicide.

Earlier this week, Forbes magazine announced its annual 30 Under 30 list, recognizing young innovators and leaders in 20 industries, including healthcare.  This year, Forbes is recognizing a member of our department, Shirley Wang, MA.

Shirley Wang is a PhD candidate in the Clinical Science program at Harvard University. She is currently completing her predoctoral internship at Massachusetts General Hospital (CBT Track), with the Center for Precision Psychiatry and Center for Digital Mental Health. Starting in July 2024, she will join the Department of Psychology at Yale University as an Assistant Professor.

Her research has focused on suicide and other forms of self-harm.  More specifically, Shirley conducts computational clinical science research in order to advance our understanding, prediction, and prevention of suicide, nonsuicidal self-injury, and eating disorders.  She is particularly interested in formal mathematical modeling of these phenomena as complex dynamical systems, and developing machine learning models for risk prediction using data collected from smartphones, wearable biosensors, and electronic medical records.

Forbes Under 30 is a prestigious list recognizing young entrepreneurs, innovators, and changemakers who have made significant achievements in their respective fields. These young individuals are selected from industries such as technology, finance, healthcare, entertainment, and more. Healthcare professionals on the Forbes Under 30 list have demonstrated exceptional contributions to the industry, whether through innovative research, groundbreaking medical discoveries, or disruptive healthcare solutions.

Congratulations!!
