Sabine Wilhelm, PhD Receives the NAMI 2023 Scientific Research Award

Dr. Wilhelm joins an illustrious group of researchers and leaders in the field who exemplify the theme of Inspiring Hope Through Research.

Today, Sabine Wilhelm, PhD, the Director of the Center for OCD and Related Disorders at MGH, as well as the Chief of Psychology and Director of the Center for Digital Mental Health in Psychiatry, will receive the NAMI Scientific Research Award at the Inspiring Hope Through Research event at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Library in Washington, D.C. She will join an illustrious group of researchers and leaders in the field who exemplify the theme of Inspiring Hope Through Research.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Scientific Research Award is supported by the Peter Corbin Kohn Endowment. The Award recognizes the work of researchers who advance our scientific understanding and treatment of mental illness forward.

Research is an important component of NAMI’s mission to build better lives for the nearly 60 million Americans affected by mental health conditions. Each year since 2005, NAMI has honored leaders in scientific research that exemplify our theme of Inspiring Hope Through Research.

About the Honoree

Dr. Wilhelm’s recent research focuses on using cutting-edge technology to improve and personalize mental health care for a range of mental health concerns. She is currently working on smartphone-based treatments for OCD, depression, and body dysmorphic disorder. Her ultimate goal is to use technology-based interventions to enhance global access to high-quality mental health interventions.

Dr. Wilhelm is the Vice Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the International OCD Foundation and serves on the Scientific Council for the Anxiety and Depression Association of America and the Tourette Syndrome Association Behavioral Science Consortium. An author and lecturer, she has also been the principal investigator or site principal investigator of seven NIMH-funded research grants and many privately funded clinical research studies.
