Recovery capital provides a holistic perspective for understanding the youth recovery experience.

For adolescents with substance use disorders, recovery support models integrate peer supports and continuing care to promote sustained recovery. These models aim to build recovery capital (RC), the personal, social, and environmental resources required to sustain recovery. The Recovery Capital for Adolescents Model (RCAM) is a proposed framework focusing on the identification of assets that enhance recovery, as well as an exploration of barriers to recovery.

In this webinar from the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP)’s Opioid Response Network (ORN) and the Recovery Research Institute (RRI) at Mass General Hospital, Emily Hennessy, PhD,  Associate Director of Biostatistics at RRI, discusses adolescent substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery, specifically focusing on the importance of building social recovery capital.

The Opioid Response Network (ORN) Partnership

In partnership with the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP)’s Opioid Response Network (ORN), the Recovery Research Institute (RRI) has received a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to provide training and technical assistance that will enhance the application of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment, prevention, and recovery.

Funding for this initiative was made possible (in part) by grant no. 1H79TI083343 from SAMHSA.
