As we head into the fall and toward the end of what has been a tumultuous and tragic year, we move from reaction to reflection.  How have the events of 2020 changed us?  In the face of trauma, we must endure hardship but we also have the opportunity to make transformative changes for the better.  In a piece written for WBUR’s Cognoscenti, Dr. Ellen O’Donnell, a pediatric psychologist specializing in the treatment of children with diabetes, reminds us that resilience means more than just weathering the storm.

Ellen O’Donnell, PhD is a pediatric psychologist at the MassGeneral for Children Pediatric Diabetes Center and Director of Clinical Psychology Services at Shriners Hospital for Children, Boston. She is also an Instructor in Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
