Christopher McDougle, MD Receives the Ruane Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Research

The award recognizes Dr. McDougle, an internationally-recognized expert in the neurobiology and neuropsychopharmacology of childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorders including autism.

The Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, the world’s largest private funder of mental health research grants, recently announced the 2024 Outstanding Achievement Prizes in Mental Health for six scientists in recognition of their exceptional work in advancing psychiatric research. 

The Ruane Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Research was awarded to Christopher McDougle, MD, the Director of the Lurie Center for Autism and the HMS Nancy Lurie Marks Professor of Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.  Dr. McDougle is an internationally-recognized expert in the neurobiology and neuropsychopharmacology of childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorders including autism.  His research interests also include the etiology and pathophysiology of syndromes associated with intellectual disability.

“The Outstanding Achievement Prize is awarded to exceptional scientists for their groundbreaking psychiatric research,” said Dr. Judith Ford, president of the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation’s Scientific Council. “Because of their important work we are making great progress in our understanding of the brain and how to treat and potentially cure psychiatric illnesses.”
